Critter of the Day

Class: Chondricthyes
Subclass: Holocephali
Order: Chimaeriformes

This critter is called a Ratfish, also known as a Chimaera. Isn't it a weird little thing? It really does look like a rat or something out-of-this-world.

Don't know anything about it. Don't feel like doing the research. So much for being bored and sticking up random stuff. . . .

But, if you're curious enough, I'm sure you'll go do some looking on your own.

While you're at it, type in paddlefish. Those are native to the mississippi river.

Hmm. . .maybe I'll do more critter of the days. It's really cool, all the fish I'm learning in my Icthy class. (Icthyology=fish studying).

So, I've come up with a new phrase I want to use in a story or something: The room smelled like goats and vomit. I really really really want to use that somewhere. Yesterday in o-chem (organic chemistry) lab we made stuff that smelled like fruit. My partner and I did strawberry, which really stank pretty. The unfortunate side of that awesomely fun lab was that the stuff we started with were really stinky. Example: hexanoic acid is known as goat acid becuase is smells like goats. On top of that, some groups used another acid that is the scent of vomit. So we were taking quizzes and boiling stuff with the smell of vomit everywhere. That changed though when our reactions were done, becuase then everything started to stink pretty (yes, I like that phrase. Kudos to Mandi for being the first to say it). It was such a fun lab. Especially becuase I decided to finish it off by burning myself on the hot plate that was heated to 160 degrees C (really really hot in fahrenheit). So if I die, again just bury me next to the cat and bird and I'll help push up that lilac bush.

(Mom, I'm kidding. I'm fine. It's actually going away now. NO I DON'T NEED AN I.V.!!!!)

Jenni, seriously, don't spend anymore time at the library. It's what THEY want! THEY want you to read their books, but their books are false!! Everything we have learned is false!! Swords are more advanced than guns. Stairs are more advanced than elevators!

It's all about information. . .

FYI: my favorite piece of gibberish from Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians was "Churches, lead, very small rocks, and ducks"

That just totally made my day.

Random update thing

Sooooo, becuase I'm bored and procrastinating on homework here do be this post:

I started watching another anime: Trigun
*sigh* Good anime.

I finished watching Cowboy Bebop finally
*sigh* Good anime.

I'm still waiting for another Avatar episode
*sigh* Good anime.
Though, Brittany wants to start watching Avatar so I may watch it with her. . .again.
*sigh sigh* Good anime.

Watched another episode of The Get Backers last Saturday
*sigh* Good anime.

Watched eight more episodes of Full Metal Alchemist
*explodes* WAY AWESOME ANIME!!!

And currently reading Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians.

Speaking of Librarians, Jenni Fiend, I do not want you to spend anymore time in the Library. You're too far in enemy territory. Please leave! Save yourself! Don't become a mindless slave of the Librarians!!!

Then again, it may be too late. . .I love libraries. . .I love books. . .I love talking dinosaurs (but not sharks). . .and Moron would be a lovely place to visit in the spring. . . .

Okay, enough of that. I'm gonna go write.

And so the wait begins. . . .

I'm officially caught up with the rest of the avid watchers in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Kayleigh and Washi and I finished watching the last five episodes of Book Three. It's so good. . . .

The bummer of the whole thing is that there is nothing ANYWHERE about why the latest episodes haven't been released. We found some forums talking about the whole thing, but I don't trust forums. That's how rumors get started. There isn't an offical website for Avatar other than Nickelodeon (which is no help, by the way), so, no news anywhere. Blah!

They better keep going with it though. It's so good! The plot is very original but unique at the same time. The characters are great, the animation is great, and the music is great too. It's such a good TV series, it has to continue! I want to know what happens next! What happened to Suki, and Iroh? What happened to the invasion force? What will happen to the gang? Gah! It's driving me crazy!

Oh well, on to finish the three other animes I want to watch. . . after class that is. And work. Blah! Work sucks. Maybe I'll reschedule my quit day earlier. . . .talk to my manager and see if I can do that. . . .I'd really like to do that. . . .I'll be so happy to leave and be done with that place!

On a brighter note, Mistborn book 3 now has a title! The Hero of Ages! Oh man! That's going to be one awesome book! I can't wait to read it! It's scheduled to come out in October but maybe I can get a hold of it while on my mission. . . .

If I get struck by lightening due to that last statement, just bury me next to the cat and bird in the backyard. I'll help push up that lilac bush with them.

The Spiderwick Chronicles

So, I'm going to keep it short becuase Kayleigh may be back any moment and then we're going to watch AVATAR!!! Woohooo!

So, The Spiderwick Chronicles: it was very good. I would totally go see it again and now I'm curious about the books. I'd like to at least get the first one and read it, see how it is in comparison to the movie. But, yeah, it was very good. There was one part that I especially liked, and I totally wigged out when it happened becuase. . . .I WANT A GRIFFIN!!! First The Pinhoe Egg and now Spiderwick Chronicles, I want a griffin! They're so cool!

Okay, er, that's about it. Back to school after a lovely trip to Zion National Park in which all of our favorite hikes were closed due to falling snow and Mastah got sick. But, it was still fun and I had a blast. We did this one hike to an overlook of Zion Canyon in the dark. It was quite the adventure, and I admit I was a little nervous. Even though there was an almost-full moon, there was some snow and ice on the ground and that made me nervous. It did bring back memories of this one hike called Robber's Roost, in which we hiked in the dark, just by starlight, for almost an hour before finding a suitable campsite.

And then the full moon came out, making everything as bright as noon and totally waking us up (us being me, Dad, Chris, Paul, and Cassie). Good times good times.

Well, yeah, that's about all. . . .*meanders off*

Francis? What is that? A mine? Why would you want a mine? Why would you want to blow up the swimming pool?

Rupert is getting smelly, put wouldn't a hose work better? No? You need the equivalent of an olympic size swimming pool to clean Rupert?

You have a point there. . . .

WHALES!!!!

So yesterday, Kayleigh and I went to Lin's to get groceries. Both of us were in desperate need of milk and bread, and we needed to get supplies for Mopey Monday tomorrow. So, we went to Lin's. While we were walking around I spotted a box of crackers. They were whales crackers! Like the Goldfish crackers. You know, the smile-at-you-until-you-bite-off-their-heads goldfish crackers. BUT THEY WERE WHALES!!!

I had no choice but to buy them. And, they are so tasty and fun to eat. They totally beat goldfishies! I like eating whales!

We also walked through the toy section and I spotted a slingshot. So now I have a slingshot. I just need to make or find ammo to shoot at people. >:D

And, on top of that, I have four anime shows that I am currently watching:
Avatar: The Last Airbender
The Get Backers
Cowboy Bebop
and now Full Metal Alchemist.

Joy, anuzzer good friend here in Cedar city, was throwing a chinese new year party and we watched the first four episodes of Full Metal Alchemist. She had wanted me to watch it for quite a while now, but I never had time. Now I will have to make time. It's way good! I like it a lot!

*sigh* The things I get myself into.

Wow. . . .

I wrote for one and a half hours and got three and a half pages written.

Now, I'm going to read.

I Did that on Purpose

So, in my intro to poetry class we read a poem, and in that poem was the word "shiny". Well, in reading that poem (yes, I read a poem. Don't die of a heart attack please, I don't want to be charged with murder just yet) I realized that the title of my blog is obviously spelled wrong. Yeah, when I first started it someone--I think it was Chris--pointed out that Shiney didn't have an 'e' in it. I originally spelled it "shiney" becuase, I admit, I thought that was how it was spelled.

Yeah, Chris, or whoever, was right.

So, one day I decided to correct that little misspelling. I went in and changed it to "Oh! It's Shiny!" and then fixed my little sub-header. Then I saved it and took a good look at it.

It looked weird. So, I changed it back to Shiney. It looks better that way. "Shiny" looks more like "Shinny." As in, let's shinny on over to that blog because it's purposefully spelled wrong. So, yeah, yes its misspelled but I like it so deal with it.

It looks better as Shiney, and, if I was even in charge of spelling words that's how I would spell it.

>:D

I got Avatar book 2 today. . . .

But, Kayleigh's still at class, so I guess I'll do some laundry. And be somewhat productive. And get more clothes to wear. Because I'm almost out of. . .clothes to wear. Might as well do that while waiting for Kayleigh.

Hmmm, but would we watch the Get Backers or Avatar? Two great anime/cartoons. That's a hard choice. . . .

*notices Winston* Winston! Stop trying to get into a psychological disscussion on the number 42 with Buddha! He's a statue for crying out loud!

Winston, Francis, and. . . .

RUPERT!!

The last billy goat has been named! Thanks to Mandi and her spetacular list of British names, Rupert now has a name!

It was between Rupert or Victor, but Rupert won. I had been actually looking for a name like that, but I kept thinking Remy. I didn't choose Remy, however, because I said to myself, "Self, Remy is the rat from Ratatouille. People would get them confused. I need something else."

So, hence, I now have Winston, Francis, and Rupert.

And I'm still working on that picture. . .I just don't have a camera and I keep forgetting to ask Chris if I can borrow his.

And, I've decided Thursdays are my favorite day of the week for two reasons:

1) No Chemistry. At all. No labs. No lecture. None.
2) I have yoga. I don't consider it a class becuase it's so relaxing

Not to mention, I have Institute in the morning and then a three hour break to do homework and whatnot before going to yoga. The one downside is that I have work right after yoga, so I basically have to race home, get a quick dinner, throw on work clothes, and then run out the door again. But, still, I like Thursdays.

Thursday's are Friday Eve's too, which makes it even better!

*gets distracted* Rupert! Go take a bath!
